The Vision: People * Imagination * Trust * Growth
Deb Morse, Founder of the Organic Islands Festival. On Salt Spring Island. Photo by Shari MacDonald. Organics are hot, hip, and mainstream. Whatever you may think about mega-corporations such as Wal-Mart and Nike jumping on the organic bandwagon, the fact is that organic foods and products are now in the spotlight. In coffee bars and on blogs, people are debating passionately the importance of organic food and products in their lives. Creative new business ideas and initiatives can be sparked by these often heated discussions, and I personally am very excited about what lies ahead. The organic lifestyle is evolving and it embraces more than just food. It's about what we breathe, wear, bathe in, and how we travel. An integrated organic lifestyle encompasses everything we use at home and in our garden, in the workplace and at play. Paradoxically, while access to a healthy lifestyle is becoming accessible to more consumers, we are all facing increasing personal daily stress from the unrelenting march of economic progress with its attendant noise and pollution. Yet there is a place that lingers in our collective imagination where the air is clean, the water clear, and the food sublime. On our Organic Island everything we eat, drink, wear, plant and use to clean our houses, nurtures our imagination, strengthens our bodies, and preserves our children's future. It may sound idealistic, but it's also a practical vision that will bring us closer to reversing the damage done from toxins sprayed on our food, and in our forests and school yards -- not to mention the pollution in the rivers, the sea, and the air. Trusting where you stand is the first step to taking the next step. We want your imagination to soar while your feet are planted securely on non-toxic ground. Many people in our wonderful local bioregion already live the organic lifestyle -- these are truly “organic islands." Organic Islands Promotions is about people like yourself, whose passion and vision have created products, services and a way of life that is sustainable, enjoyable, available, and inspirational.
Our work articulates and spreads a vision of an organic and holistic way of living that we want to nurture and expand. We want to see 'organic islands' everywhere on this planet.
