At the festival, WeGo Solar has set-up a hand wash station for practical and educational purposes. It will be situated in the Village near the portable toilets. It’s great to be able to wash your hands in hot water and not have to use the stinky hand gel. And it’s really cool to look [...]

It’s all about the Moukisac

I’ve got it planned. I saw the video on U-Tube and this is just the thing I need. I realize we are all trying hard not to use plastic bags in our everyday lives and I need a place to put my mushrooms, grapes, and other smaller items that can’t fly solo in my shopping cart.
Here is a description from their website :
Moukisac® is a 6 in 1 compact reusable shopping bag system.

Green business is “not just about ‘let’s stop buying this stuff and let’s start buying green stuff’—we want to buy less stuff” — Deb Morse, festival director …
The Green Muze reports on the Power of One

I was somewhat taken by surprise when Valerie Williams, Green Muze editor on Saltspring Island, called me an ‘eco rock star’ during the course of our recent interview. Here is an ‘excerpt’ of the article and interview with link to the Green Muze site which describes itself as “part news agency, part magazine, part advocacy group, and unquestionably idealistic”

Volunteers are the best!
Volunteers are the best! Last year they gathered for the Volunteer Orientation, about 75 lovely people, with Jen Cizman, Volunteer Manager, and the rest of the Organic Islands Team to find out about festival plans, and tour the gardens. This dedicated group has already been helping out in the office, at the farmers’ markets, and with postering. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Heather Fisher (Children’s Village Coordinator)…

We did come and enjoy the music, food, people and the festival this weekend. It was awesome! The music was great, food was incredible and we left with a fistful of information and a gratifying feeling about being part of something good.
