Exhibitors Orientation and Networking Event

photo by Shari MacDonaldLast night marked a milestone in the countdown to the 2009 festival – over sixty exhibitors from values-based, sustainability focused businesses and organizations participated in the annual Exhibitors Orientation & Networking Event sponsored by the Values-Based Business Network.  Jane Powell from Buddies Toy Store had this to say:

I am just home from a warm orientation at the garden – we are impressed! (Buddies is providing green toys for the Play Zone in the Children’s Village)

James Cowan, production manager, and Rachelle McElroy, logistics manager, lead the tour of the ten acres of gardens which delighted us with the warm scents of springtime in full bloom. In less than four weeks this peaceful oasis will host 6,000 people eager to discover, celebrate and learn from the 150 exhibitors on hand to inspire you like them have done me — these people are my inspiration for starting this festival in the first place. What impresses me is the diversity, creativity and passion of local green entrepreneurs and ngo’s who are offering products, services and information we need to create sustainable change.

At the Orientation we heard from new exhibitors such as Devon Carter of Home ECO-nomics, a Green Lifestyle Coach, Alesha Davies of AJ’s Organic Catering who will be one of many local food vendors at the festival, and Ron Hartman of the Hartman Design Group, which has developed a system for harvesting your rain water and sending it directly to your back or front yard irrigation system.
