Make it big in US to get ‘cred’ in Canada

TO Beverages

Canada misses out on TO Bevys

I started my day today with a disappointing phone call to Don Snow the creator and owner of TO Bevy’s aka Totally Organic Beverages. His delicious certified organic fruit juice coolers – blackcurrant, mango with a hint of orange, cranberry and pomegranate infused with blueberry notes, delighted festival goers in the Green Drinkery last year.  His new product is Totally Organic Premium 4 Column Distilled Vodka.

Don told me this morning, “We’ve given up on Canada. There’s no support for the small guy so we’re going to the US where we have a better chance of making it work.”

I knew Don had been struggling to get his coolers in Liquor Stores across Canada and he experienced frustration at every turn.  He says that in order to get the ‘cred’ he needs for Canada to pay attenion, he’ll have to make it big in the US market and then come back here. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

WE’ll miss sipping his ‘totally organic beverages’ and we’ll need a replacement – any ideas?  To find out how a passion for environmental and personal health inspired Don Snow and his friend Ernie McIvor  to up with the idea for TO Bevy’s check out their story at: http://www.tobevys.com/story/ and find out what Canada is missing!

  1. If I’m reading their website correctly, they only launched their beverages in 2007. They’ve given up on Canada already? That’s too bad!
I’m curious if they have reviewed their marketing strategy? They appear to only have done two shows in 2009 and don’t appear to be on facebook or twitter.
I think they just need to get out there more! Make a splash! And do it quick!
Supporting small and local is gaining in popularity in my opinion.

Shirley – Yes I wonder about that myself. The issue is the Liquor Control Board – they tend to like to deal with bigger players though there are smaller players in the liquor stores. I don’t know the liquor biz myself. I just know what Don has shared.

    This is very sad!
